Physiotherapy

Physical therapy addresses the illnesses, or injuries that limit a person's abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives.  With a Masters Degree of Physical Therapy, the study of physiotherapy is anchored in movement sciences and aims to enhance or restore function of multiple body systems. This includes providing therapeutic treatment in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors. Therapists use an individual's history, physical examination and diagnoses to establish a thorough personalized management plan.

Treatments commonly include exercises, manual therapy and manipulation, mechanical devices such as traction, education, electrophysical modalities which include heat, cold, electricity, sound waves, radiation, assistive devices, prostheses, orthoses and other interventions. PTs also work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles. This includes providing therapeutic treatment in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors.

The profession is committed to health, lifestyle and quality of life.

Chiropractic

Our modern chiropractors practice as evidence-based neuro-musculoskeletal clinicians and diversified physical therapists. They have undergone rigorous academic and clinical training attaining degrees in Kinesiology before  completing their Doctorate program. As primary clinicians, they hold the designation of "Doctor," allowing them the legal ability to make a clinical diagnosis as well as recommend and carry out treatment plans within their scope of practice. This not only includes pathologies involving the spine, spinal cord and nervous system, but also bones in general and any and all joints outside of the spine and their associated muscular and other soft tissue structures. The practice of chiropractic involves the examination of traumatic injuries, mechanical dysfunctions or disorders arising from the structures or functions of the joints in the body and the effects those dysfunctions or disorders may have on the rest of the body.

Treatment involves a variety of therapies combined to meet the specific needs of each individual patient. Manual therapies such as Active Release Technique and joint mobilizations are usually combined with therapeutic exercise, patient education and activity modification to help patients reduce pain and return to normal function. For athletes, our sport focussed chiropractors also perform baseline functional movement and concussion screens and are able to treat a wide variety of athletic injuries.

Clinical Kinesiology

Clinical Kinesiologists are experts in all things movement and exercise. Our registered kinesiologists provide private clinical, functional or performance training sessions with clients in a 1-on-1 clinical or gym environment. Through individual programs, the kinesiologist help clients meet their health, performance and movement goals by increasing core stability, overall strength, endurance, posture, and range of motion. Our kinesiologists focus on stretching, strengthening, and endurance exercises for injury rehabilitation and prevention and performance improvement. To begin these sessions, the kinesiologist may do a functional assessment to evaluate the performance level of the client, and use this to create a program for that particular client based on their needs.
